THE MCKINNEY AVENUE CONTEMPORARY ANNOUNCES
OUTDOOR SITE-SPECIFIC NEW MEDIA INSTALLATION
BY CARMEN MENZA
The MAC is pleased to announce the installment of a site-specific new media installation, Insomniac by Dallas artist Carmen Menza. The installation will illuminate the exterior main entrance to The MAC building directly off McKinney Avenue. Insomniac is a 58 inch circular digital canvas designed by Carmen Menza which utilizes LED lighting and custom software programming. Offering a dynamic public artwork for the Uptown area, Insomniac will emit moving abstract fields of color to engage and captivate gallery guests and passersby.
This project is made possible by the generous help and support of Claude Albritton, Aja Martin, Lisa Hees, Carmen Menza, Gary DeLarios - Lost Arts, Brad Litteken and David Neale - BUYLeds, George Palmer and Michael Dawson - Hossley Lighting, and Alexandra Phillips.
